Tyson was born and raised in Andover, Kansas (near Wichita) and has lived in the Kansas City area since 2008. He became a born-again Christian at the age of 15. As a junior in high school, Tyson accepted a call to ministry, which had been the subject of prayer by the staff of his church.
Soon after, Tyson became involved in a range of ministries, including prison ministry, jail ministry, church planting, college ministry, music ministry, and street evangelism. While in college, he served six times as a semester and summer missionary with the North American Mission Board.
He attended Butler Community College, Spurgeon College, and Midwestern Seminary, where he earned both a Bachelor of Divinity and a Master of Divinity with a pastoral concentration.
Tyson enjoys spending time with his family, pastoring, writing, woodworking, and playing guitar. He is blessed with a wonderful wife and three children.
